The use of this paper first had an immediate effect upon the Egyptians that first used it. The ancient Egyptians harvested this plant and dried it and processed it into papyrus paper. Papyrus paper was made from the once abundant papyrus plant that grew upon the banks of the Nile River. The first artifact and I believe one of the most important in terms of Ancient Egyptian legacy is ancient papyrus paper.
